Simon Joyner is critically considered one of the finest and most
uncompromising songwriters working in contemporary song.
Internationally acclaimed, he performs in Europe and America in
between recording projects. He has twenty-two releases under his name
and is also featured on a number of international music compilations
including the soon to be released U.K. based Mute Records compilation,
Songwriters. He has twice recorded Peel Sessions for the legendary BBC DJ,
John Peel. He's heard in a duet with fellow songwriter, Conor Oberst,
on the Bright Eyes There is no Beginning to the Story EP as well as
having his song Burn Rubber covered by Bright Eyes on the recent
single, Take it Easy (Love Nothing).
With an artistic career spanning fourteen years, Joyner is known for
pushing his song craft into new territory with each release, securing
a reputation for following his artistic vision and spurning commercial
concerns. He lives in Omaha, Nebraska. His new LP/CD,
Skeleton Blues, will be released in November 2006 on Jagjaguwar
Records.
