Pomp-rocking fantasists Borderville blend cabaret, glam rock, folk and occasional flurries of electronica into a widescreen spectacular which sounds like an unholy three-way between Kurt Weill, Scissor Sisters and Super Furry Animals. The child of this dastardly union is a sprawling, work-in-progress concept album which they will begin recording over the summer.
Bassist Phil Oakley also runs the annual Sunday Steamer promotions over the summer, where bands and performers play on Edwardian steamboats travelling down the Thames. Borderville will be performing again this year.
